Join the centennial celebration

The centennial isn't about us, it's about you - the people we serve. And it's about the future. This year we're reaching out across New England to engage new members, partners and communities, and to sow seeds that will inspire efforts well beyond 2010 through exhibitions, special programs and events, preservation and scholarship, schools and youth, and our community partners. Find out all that's happening...

Learn more about our past and our future

In 1910, William Sumner Appleton became the country's first professional preservationist when he founded Historic New England. Today, Appleton's vision has grown to be the nation's largest and most comprehensive regional heritage organization, sharing its resources throughout the region, across the country, and around the globe. Discover more about our history and our vision for making the next century even more extraordinary than the first.

Find out how you can support our centennial initiatives

Historic New England began with a modest budget and eighteen optimistic incorporators who knew that there were many more like them who would support the vision of protecting and sharing the objects, places, and stories that define New England's heritage. Members and donors are still the cornerstone of our work. Find out how you can support the centennial initiatives that launch our next one hundred years.
